Ashiya's Hair Diary: The Awkward Phase

One of the main reasons I did not want to cut my locs down to a TWA was the inevitable awkward phase. Mainly because I don't care. It is what it is. I can be honest enough to say that come across in styling at times. I keep it clean and moisturized, because the maintenance is what is most important to me.

Wedding Style: Me with my beautiful cousin!

At one point discovering a patch of hair (or baby loc) out of place would have drove me crazy! I would imagine it had been like that for hours. It doesn't even phase me now. Of course it really shouldn't and part of it is definitely personal growth. But I also realize that its best sometimes to let my hair rest during this phase of growth.

Baby Cousin is giving me serious hair lust! She's so cute!
I'm sure my scalp is recovering from years of twisting and manipulating my locs. In addition to the weight of my locs, my scalp is breathing a sigh of relief. I continue to massage my scalp, allowing the natural oils in my scalp to do their thing. My goal is to master care and products before my hair gets too full. I'm well on my way.

Uncle is featured because this is a good hair shot. Can't pass that up!
All in all, the new cut is cool. I'm looking forward to the growth. Shorter is great, but I do believe I enjoy fuller, longer hair best. It gives me more variety and options, which is important to me in personal expression. There are still those days where I'm not sure what's going on, but I'll take those with the days it all comes together. That's natural hair life.
